| Description: | .jpg) Rosie the Riveter is an allegorical cultural icon in the U.S. who represents the women who worked in factories and shipyards during World War ll. These women sometimes took entirely new jobs replacing the male workers who joined the military. Rosie was primarily a fictitious character, the strong, bandana-clad Rosie became one of the most successful recruitment tools in American history, and the most iconic image of working women in the World War ll era. Her iconic poster of a female worker flexing her muscle, exhorting other women to join the World War ll effort with the declaration that “We Can Do It!”
